Kuala Lumpur, 9 July 2020 – INCEIF today received a RM30,000 zakat contribution from Bank Rakyat.
At the mock cheque presentation on INCEIF campus today, INCEIF President & CEO Prof Dato’ Dr Azmi Omar received the mock cheque on behalf of INCEIF from Bank Rakyat Bangsar Branch Manager Mr Shaiful Azam Abdul Latif.
The zakat contribution has been channelled to the INCEIF Fisabillilah Trust Fund which is primarily funded by zakat contributions including from financial institutions, corporate bodies, alumni and individuals. The Fund gives financial aid to deserving Malaysian and international Muslim students to pursue INCEIF academic programmes.
Dato’ Azmi said: “This act of giving signifies an exemplary commitment on the part of Islamic financial institutions to support human capital development in Islamic finance. As a leading provider of advanced education in Islamic finance, INCEIF plays an important role to position Malaysia as a centre for innovation and thought leadership in this field. But INCEIF alone would not be able to achieve this objective without the continuous effort and support by all stakeholders within the industry.”
Mr Shaiful Azam said: “As a financial institution, we want to play our role in elevating the hardship of the community, particularly during this COVID-19 time. Many are financially impacted by the pandemic, so we hope that our zakat contribution will help the affected students to continue with their studies. This is in line with Bank Rakyat’s corporate social responsibility.”
Since its establishment, INCEIF has received monetary contributions from a spectrum of generous benefactors in Malaysia and abroad. This has enabled INCEIF to continuously enhance its internal capacity as the knowledge and thought leader in Islamic finance. The contributions are being utilised to create the provision of scholarships, research and facilities development.
